Notre Dame Football: Chuck Martin Leaves For Miami (OH)

2013 Notre Dame Football

Chuck Martin will finally get his first Division 1 Head Coaching gig. Martin will take over a Redhawk team that went 0-12 this season.

Martin was the head coach at Grand Valley State before joining Brian Kelly at Notre Dame. Martin led the Grand Valley State to two Division II National Titles and a 74-7 record between 2004-09. At Notre Dame, Martin coached the Secondary in 2010 and 2011. In 2012, Chuck Martin moved to the Offensive side of the ball. Without Martin as the Offensive Coordinator, the Irish averaged 27.75 points per game. With Martin, the Irish averaged 26.45 points per game.

Depending on who the Irish bring in, the loss of Martin is probably negligible.

Martin will be the second Notre Dame Offensive Coordinator to take over at Miami (OH) in three coaches. Former Notre Dame Offensive Coordinator Mike Haywood. Haywood went 1-11 before going 9-4 and 8-1 in the MAC. He then accepted a job at Pittsburgh.

Brian Kelly will now move to replace Brian Kelly. However, they can probably wait until after the bowl game. Martin coaches Quarterbacks and calls the plays. Kelly will essentially take over these duties. He could permanently take these duties and hire a full time Special Teams coordinator.
