2013 Notre Dame Football
Brian Kelly said Tuesday that Quarterback Everett Golson would be re-admitted to the University on December 13th. Although this has been expected since Golson re-applied to the University a few weeks ago, this is the first official word that he will return.
Brian Kelly, on a media tour promoting VIZIO’s BCS Fan Throwdown contest, told ESPN:
“I’ve been assured that based upon all of the information that has been provided that he’s going to be readmitted on Dec. 13, and that information has been provided to admission. It’s just a matter of them sending out the admittance letter and then being back on campus sometime around the 15th of December.”
Golson lead the Irish to an undefeated season in 2012. He threw for 2,405 yards, 12 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. He added 298 yards and 6 more touchdowns on the ground.
Golson may or not be able to practice with the team.WUND’s Angelo Di Carlo writes:
Golson is not allowed to practice at the bowl site or play in a bowl game. He can only get time with the team in the days before Notre Dame would depart campus. With finals going until December 20th, that window may not exist for him to do so—if the Irish get selected for an early bowl game.
If Notre Dame somehow gets into a bowl game in January then the possibility would open again for Golson to be able to possibility practice with the team.
Despite the chance of not being able to practice with the team, Golson is still the favorite to take the first snap against Rice on Saturday, August 30th.
