Notre Dame Football: Irish Accept Bid To Pinstripe Bowl

2013 Notre Dame Football

As expected, Notre Dame has expected a bid to play in the Pinstripe Bowl in Yankee Stadium in New York City on December 28th. The Irish are projected to play Houston currently. The Cougars are the 4th ranked team in the American Athletic Conference currently.

The only way the opponent could possibly shift is if UCF moves into a BCS game. This would eliminate UCF from the American Athletic Conference’s possible bowl bids. The AAC’s 5th team is currently SMU. They would need to beat UCF to become bowl eligible. However, beating UCF would eliminate them from BCS discussion and not change the outcome for the Fighting Irish. However, if they were to lose and UCF were to go to the BCS, Rutgers would need to beat South Florida to become eligible. Depending on the outcome of all of these match ups, Notre Dame could be looking at Houston or Rutgers with an outside possibly of playing an at-large team (if Rutgers is not eligible).

The Fighting Irish have finished 8-5 under Brian Kelly twice. They will head to NYC looking to push their record to 9-4 on the season. Although the season was disappointing, it is important for Notre Dame to end on a high note and send the Seniors out with a win.
