Notre Dame Football Recruiting

Notre Dame landed its third commitment in two days from highly touted Tight End Tyle Luatua. The Irish also received commitments from Montini Catholic Linebacker Nile Sykes and Samuel Clemens Linebacker Kolin Hill. Luatua hails from La Mirada, California. He checks in at 6’4″ 230 lbs.

He selected Notre Dame over Alabama. His brother played for Alabama. Several schools offered him including Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, UCLA and USC. 247Sports ranks Luatua as the 7th best Tight End and 240th best player in the nation. He is rated as 4-star recruit. In 2012, Luatua caught 43 passes for 594 yards and 8 touchdowns.

Luatua is the 22nd commitment in the 2014 Notre Dame Football Recruiting class. He joins Nic Weisher as the second Tight End in the class. Realistically, this leaves Notre Dame with one scholarship left for the class before they begin cutting 5th year options. This last commitment could be Nyles Morgan, Charles Nelson or Matt Elam.

Notre Dame currently ranks as the 7th best class in the nation according to Rivals.
