Aaron Lynch was the most talented pass rusher that Notre Dame had on its roster in 2011 as a true Freshman. Now, three years removed from high school, he has declared for the NFL Draft.
The trials of Aaron Lynch are well known. Lynch was rated as ESPN’s No. 15 overall prospect in his class. High.Aaron Lynch originally committed to Notre Dame before decommitting and committing to Florida State. Notre Dame pulled the 11th hour switch and got him to recommit to the Irish. Lynch enrolled early and had 5.5 sacks in his Freshman season. During spring football 2012, Lynch decided to transfer from the University. His stay at Notre Dame was marked by emotional outbursts, personal fouls and scuffles with teammates.
Lynch decided to go to the University of South Florida to be closer to his friends and family. After sitting out one year, a much smaller Aaron Lynch returned to the field. At Notre Dame, Aaron Lynch weighed in at 270 lbs. This year, the former 5-star recruit checked in at 244 lbs.
Lynch’s lack of production, size and off-the-field issues would suggest that he will not be drafted high. However, it only takes one General Manager to believe in Lynch’s potential.
