Notre Dame Basketball Recap: Irish Give Christmas Present Win to Buckeyes

Notre Dame Basketball

Christmas came early for the Ohio State Buckeyes when Notre Dame surrendered an eight point lead with less than two minutes remaining in the contest.

When Notre Dame Senior Guard Eric Atkins left the game, it left Notre Dame with a limited amount of solid ball handlers. They quickly failed to hold the lead and lost the game, 64-61.

“I don’t really know what happened. It was a big blur. We never stopped. We never gave up. Guys were running around getting tips and guys made big free throws,” said Ohio State Senior Guard Aaron Craft.

Notre Dame played an excellent second half prior to losing the lead in the last two minutes. The Irish outscored the Buckeyes 35-31 in the second half of the game.

The Irish only got one point off of their bench from Senior Forward Tom Knight. Notre Dame was lead again by Senior Guard Jerian Grant with 18 points. Four Notre Dame Starters were double digits in scoring.

Notre Dame falls to 8-4. They will play Canisius Golden Griffins on Sunday, December 29th at 5:00 p.m.

  • Notre Dame, usually an excellent assist to turnover ratio team, had 8 turnovers and 13 turnovers.
