Notre Dame Basketball: Jerian Grant Dismissed

Notre Dame Basketball

Notre Dame Senior Guard Jerian Grant has been dismissed from Notre Dame for an academic issue. The Senior Guard who has one year of eligibility remaining was averaging 19 points per game.

Losing a top player during the middle of the year is not unfamiliar to the Fighting Irish. Last year, the Irish lost 6th-year Senior Scott Martin. At times, Jack Cooley was limited with injury. In 2011-2012, the Irish played without Tim Abromaitis. In 2009-2010, the Irish played most of the end of the season without Star Forward Luke Harangody.

If the trend continues, Notre Dame could still make the tournament. Prior to Grant’s dismissal, Notre Dame was still on the bubble. Joe Lundari’s latest bracketology had Notre Dame as a team in the “First Four Out”. They current have an RPI of 96. Only the loss to Indiana State represents a bad loss currently. However, the Irish do not have wins against the Top 50 of the RPI. The Irish will need to win several games against the upper echelon of the ACC.
