Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Tyler Luatua “Still Looking”

Notre Dame Football Recruiting

Tyler Luatua committed to Notre Dame on December 16th but remains interested in Alabama and USC. Luatua originally chose Notre Dame over Alabama without USC in the picture. But, the recent coaching change has made him re-think his decision to consider USC.

In these situations, fans, followers and coaches wonder why a commitment would make a decision then immediately turn around waiver on that commitment. It is more understandable when a recruit has been committed for a while and begins to get that “itch”. Luatua could have been attempting to secure his spot as Notre Dame’s class begins to fill up at the end of this recruiting cycle. Additionally, Notre Dame’s recent change at Offensive Coordinator could be playing a role in Luatua rethinking his college choice.

Luatua is the 7th rated Tight End by 247Sports. He checks in at 6’4″ 240 lbs and hails from La Mirada, California. He visited Notre Dame on October 19th and Alabama on November 9th. Luatua’s brother currently plays at Alabama.

National Signing Day is Wednesday, February 5th.
