Notre Dame Football: Tuitt to NFL

Notre Dame Football

Stephon Tuitt signed with Notre Dame in 2011 and become a cornerstone of a Defensive front-7 that helped Notre Dame to an undefeated regular season in 2012. In 2013, following a sports hernia injury, Tuitt struggled to regain his prior form but showed flashes of his former self. Fans hoped in 2014 that he would return to Notre Dame for a spectacular season.

According to an exclusive interview with Sports Illustrated, that Senior season will not happen.

When Tuitt signed Irish in 2011, he was ranked as the 22nd best player in the country according to Rivals.

At 6’6″ 312 lbs., Tuitt has been projected as a first round selection by some experts. According to those same reports, he could be selected by the Chicago Bears with the 14th pick or the Patriots with the 28th pick. The NFL Draft Advisory Board told Brian Kelly and Tuitt that he would likely be a 2nd or 3rd round pick. These evaluations are generally conservative.

Tuitt collected 124 tackles and 20.5 sacks in his career at Notre Dame.
