Notre Dame Football Recruiting: New Targets on Defensive Line

Notre Dame Football Recruiting

Marcus GriffinDefensive Tackle, Bellevue, Washington

Griffin grades out as a 4-star prospect, according to Rivals and Scout. One of Griffin’s best attributes is his excellent size. He measures out at 6’3″ and weighs 295 lbs. Griffin has already taken an official visit to Washington State. He will also visit California (1/17/2014) and Mississippi State (1/31/2014). According to Twitter reports, the Irish have reached out to Griffin. There is less than one month to go until National Signing Day. It may be too late.

Michael Sawyers, Defensive Tackle, Nashville, Tennessee

Sawyers is currently committed to Vanderbilt. However, with James Franklin moving on to Penn State, he will be looking around until National Signing Day. According to reports, he is interested in Texas, Notre Dame, Ole Miss and Tennessee. Sawyer also has great size. He checks in at 6’2″ and 300 lbs. With the loss of Dickerson, Notre Dame could replace him with Sawyers. Vanderbilt and Notre Dame are not exactly the same schools. But, the combination of academics and athletics may appeal to him.
