Notre Dame Football Recruiting
Isaiah McKenzie’s recruitment was rather slow up until this month’s Under Armour All-America Game. Following that all-star game performance, McKenzie has received offers from Florida and Oregon as well as renewed interest from other schools including Ole Miss and Tennessee.
Notre Dame has been considered the leader since September or October. McKenzie “committed” to the Fighting Irish in October despite not being qualified by the University admissions department.
But, McKenzie has kept his nose to the grindstone and may be closing in on a committable offer from Notre Dame. In fact, he may have already been accepted by the admissions department because he has scheduled a visit to Notre Dame on January 31st.
There is no concrete word (or rumor) from either the Wide Receiver or school that he could indeed be admitted to the University. However, reading the tea leaves, it would appear that he can now officially commit to Notre Dame on his visit.
Why would the University have McKenzie visit if he could not choose the Irish by National Signing Day (February 5th or the following week)?
Perhaps, they will want him to take the SAT, again. But, it would seem like a huge waste of time to have a prospect visit who could never choose Notre Dame.
Prediction: McKenzie will be Irish by February 1st.
