Notre Dame Football Recruiting

Notre Dame received an early surprise tonight when 3-star Defensive Tackle Pete Mokwuah committed . Mokwuah received the offer from Notre Dame early this week before committing to Notre Dame. Mokwuah received scholarship offers from Connecticut, Pittsburgh and Rutgers. Mokwuah committed to Rutgers on May 3rd, 2013 and was committed to the Scarlet Knights until today.

Mokwuah checks at 6’5″ 305 lbs. He is a 3-star recruit from Staten Island, New York.

Mokwuah fills the void left by San Mateo Defensive Tackle prospect Matt Dickerson who de-committed from Notre Dame and committed to UCLA.

The low 3-star rating is not reflective of Mokwuah’s potential. He is an extremely raw recruit with excellent size and athleticism. These attributes simply cannot be coached. But, they can be built upon in the upcoming years  at Notre Dame. By that time, he could be a “5-star” player wreaking havoc on opposing offensives.

Overall, Notre Dame fulfill a significant need at a critical position. Considering they offered a recruit three weeks before Signing Day, it is a tremendous get for the Irish.

“wreaking” havoc. Unless, of course, he really smells and stinks of havoc…
