Notre Dame Football Recruiting

The Notre Dame staff was only able to celebrate the commitment of Pete Mokwuah for a few hours.

Florida Linebacker Richard Yeargin was a shaky commitment when he visited Clemson in November. After losing Bob Diaco and bringing on a new Defensive Coordinator who might change how he is used, it is not a surprise that he de-committed from Notre Dame tonight.

Presumably, he will now move to commit to Clemson. The Tigers currently have 19 commitments including 3 commitments at the Linebacker position.

Another possible destination for Yeargin is Florida. Of course, the Irish and Brian Kelly could make a push to get back in the mix with the 4-star Linebacker.

It is unclear where Yeargin would fit in with Notre Dame’s new scheme. He was slated to play Outside Linebacker in a 3-4 Defense.

Yeargin is rated as the 24th best Outside Linebacker in the country by 247Sports. He checks in at 6’4″ 225 and hails from Fort Lauderdale.

This leaves Notre Dame with 20 commitments and 2 early enrollees for a total of 22 potential signees.
