Notre Dame has not had 3 first round draft picks since 1994. The Class of 2014 won as many games as the Class of 1994. The 1994 class won 40 games. This class won 37 games.

According to draft experts, Notre Dame may have 3 first round draft picks.

ESPN Writer Matt Fortuna wrote of Notre Dame’s three possible draft picks:

Remember how we said that Zack Martin had a pretty good showing in Mobile, Ala., last week? It is already paying dividends perception-wise. The two-time Notre Dame captain entered Mel Kiper’s Big Board for the first time and jumped 11 spots on Todd McShay’s latest draft board .

We asked earlier this week if Martin would be the first former Irish player drafted. If Kiper’s Big Board is any indication, that could prove to be the case, as Martin is No. 17 on that list, ahead of Stephon Tuitt (No. 20) and Louis Nix (No. 22)

The left tackle is up to No. 19 on McShay’s board, though that remains behind his two former college teammates, as Tuitt is No. 15 and Nix is No. 17.

Scouts Inc. wrote that Martin was the top performer during Senior Bowl practices , calling him the cream of the crop and deserving of a shot at the left tackle spot he manned in college.

If the number of possible first round draft picks and victories by class is any indication then Notre Dame football is as close to being back as ever.
