Notre Dame Basketball
When Notre Dame officially tips off the 2014-2015 basketball season, they will only return two front line players who have experience. These players are forwards with Juniors Zach Auguste and Austin Burgett.
Auguste averaged 6.7 points per game and Burgett chipped in 3.0 points per game. The Irish lose the production of Garrick Sherman who averaged 13.7 points per game.
The loss of production and depth that Sherman, as well as Tom Knight, added to the team could hamstring the Irish in the upcoming season.
Yes, the Irish will depend heavily on Sophomore Austin Torres and in-coming Freshman Bonzie Colson Jr. and Martin Geben but this is unproven talent.
So, Mike Brey has hit the road pursuing a 5th year player. This player is:
Temple’s 6-9 Anthony Lee, a fifth-year senior transfer. ESPN.com’s Jeff Goodman reports Iowa State, Louisville, Ohio State and Notre Dame are his other finalists. IU and Iowa State are the favorites.
Lee averaged 13.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game in the 2013-2014 season at Temple. His 8.6 rebounds led the American Athletic Conference.
