Notre Dame Football
Sporting News recently ranked all of the coaches in the FBS. At the top of the list was loved and hated Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban. Where did Brian Kelly land on this list? Fifth. The Irish Head Coach rounded out a top 5 of Saban, Spurrier, Meyer and Stoops. Sporting News wrote of Kelly:
Has won big everywhere he has coached, from the NCAA lower divisions to non-BCS and BCS levels. Had ND on pace for another run in 2013 before starting QB Everett Golson was dismissed from school for cheating on an exam. He’s back this fall – but so is Malik Zaire, a talented redshirt freshman who will push Golson and put Kelly in his comfort zone: playing and thriving with multiple quarterbacks.
Notre Dame will face David Shaw (7th), Jimbo Fisher (10th), Bobby Petrino (21st), Pat Fitzgerald (22nd), Larry Fedora (31st), Todd Graham (33rd), Steve Sarkisian (36th), Ken Niumatalolo (38th), Brady Hoke (46th), Scott Shafer (83rd), David Bailiff (84th) and Darrell Hazell (113th) this season.
Brian Kelly has never won a National Title at this level like Miles (9th) and Fisher (10th). However, both of those coaches inherited programs that allowed them to win their title. Additionally, they have several advantages in recruiting. It is easier to argue that Kelly knows how to do more with less.
Kelly took Cincinnati to two straight BCS Bowls (Orange 2009 and Sugar 2010). He also lead Notre Dame to its first undefeated season in 24 years. He has won 208 game as a Head Coach.
