Notre Dame Football: Dream Team – Quarterback

The Notre Dame Football twitter account has been compiling a “dream team” generated by fan vote. The voting started with Quarterback. The fans selected Joe Montana in a landslide. Would he be the best Quarterback to lead the Irish dream team?

Best Quarterbacks by Yardage

Brady Quinn fueled the Irish resurgence from 2003-2006. He threw for 11,762 yards in his four seasons at Notre Dame, the most by any Quarterback in Notre Dame history. At Notre Dame, Quinn finished 3rd and 4th in the Heisman Trophy while collecting the Maxwell Award in 2006.

Others: Jimmy Clausen (8148), Tommy Rees (7670), Ron Powlus (7602), Steve Beuerlein (6527)

Best Quarterbacks by Touchdowns

Not only was Brady Quinn Notre Dame’s yardage leader, he also lead the Irish with 95 touchdowns. No Quarterback even came close to that number.

Others: Tommy Rees (61), Jimmy Clausen (60), Ron Powlus (52), Rick Mirer (41)

Best Quarterbacks by Wins

Brady Quinn is tied with Ron Powlus and Tom Clemens for the most wins, 25, as a Quarterback in school history.

Others: Tommy Rees (22)

Brayden Tyler Quinn would be my vote for dream Quarterback. He is clearly the best statistical Quarterback in history. Joe Montana is a solid selection by the fans. Montana won the 1977 National Title and lead a historic rally in the “Chicken Soup” game. But, Quinn would be the most dynamic and dependable option for the Notre Dame Football “Dream Team”.
