Notre Dame Football Recruiting
Next year, KeiVarae Russell may have to battle Notre Dame’s latest commit on the field and on stage. The young actor portraying a young Ray Charles in the clip above may be Notre Dame’s next great Wide Receiver. His name is C.J. Sanders.
Despite being noted for his roles in Ray and Six Feet Under, Sander is also a talented Division 1 prospect. According to Rivals and 247Sports, he is rated a 4-star prospect in the 2015 class. Sanders had offers from Duke, Georgia, Mississippi State, Northwestern, Ole Miss, Stanford, Tennessee, USC and Vanderbilt.
On the field, Sanders has great speed. In 2013, he finished 2nd in the state in 100 meters with a time of 10.64 and 2nd in the state in the 200 meters with a time of 21.70. Sanders is also extremely elusive. On film, he seems to always make people miss or bounces off like a pinball. He will primarily work from the slot or Z-position due to his lack of size. Sanders only checks in at 5’9″ 177.
Sanders will transfer to Sherman Oaks High School in California, the same high school that produced Dayne Crist and Anthony McDonald. He currently attends Brentwood Academy in Tennessee.
Sanders is the son of former Ohio State and Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans WR Chris Sanders.
