Notre Dame Football: Zack Martin Goes 16th To The Cowboys

Notre Dame Football – NFL Draft

Last October, Martin played in AT&T Stadium for the first time when the Irish played the Sun Devils. He will now be playing his games there on a regular basis.

The Cowboys selected Martin with 16th pick in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Martin was a 4-star recruit and the 22nd best tackle coming out of high school. Brian Kelly and his coaching staff clearly developed him into a great player. He was the 4th offensive tackle selected in the draft.

At Notre Dame, Martin holds the record for most starts with 52. He was a second-team All-American in 2012.

The Cowboys currently have former USC offensive tackle Tyron Smith at the left tackle spot. This means the Cowboys will either utilize Martin as a right tackle or a guard.

Most likely, they will use him at guard. An NFL team would not use the 15th selection to draft a guard.

Martin is a consummate professional. He may not be a pro-bowl tackle. However, he is almost a guaranteed success in the NFL because of his work ethic.
