Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Ray-Ray McCloud Evaluation

The word “electrifying” describes Ray-Ray McCloud’s highlight tape. At 5-9 175, McCloud gives up at least 4 inches and 25 pounds to Notre Dame’s other targets. But, this does not make him less of a player. In 2013, McCloud rushed for 2316 yards on 300 carries (7.72 average) and 26 touchdowns. Rivals rates him as a 4-star recruit and the 10th best athlete in the 2015 class. He holds 31 FBS offers.

McCloud possesses unbelievable playmaking ability. He uses great speed and agility to make defenders miss. Despite his slight build, McCloud runs with more power than one would expect. Additionally, he showed his work-horse ability with 300 carries in one season. Ultimately, McCloud’s size limits him in the amount of possible carries at the college level.

He could play several positions in college. Running Back, Scat-Back, Slot Receiver, Punt Returner and Kick Returner are all possibilities. This makes McCloud a more valuable recruit for college coaches. In Notre Dame’s Offense, McCloud fits the Z-position. He projects similar to former Notre Dame Slot Receiver and Running Back Theo Riddick and current Slot Receiver Amir Carlisle.

McCloud plans on attending the “Irish Invasion” on June 20th. In-state powers Florida and Florida State have offered McCloud. This visit helps Notre Dame in closing the gap in McCloud’s recruitment.
