Two elite Notre Dame Defensive Linemen, Stephon Tuitt and Louis Nix, departed for the NFL following the 2013 season. Notre Dame’s inability to consistently land elite Defensive Linemen limits their potential as a defense. A recently scheduled official visit by 5-star Weakside Defensive Linemen Keisean Lucier-South presents a new opportunity for the Irish coaching staff to land an elite front 7 player.
Lucier-South scheduled an official visit to South Bend on October 5th. Notre Dame takes on the Stanford Cardinal that weekend.
Bob Elliot and Mike Denbrock primarily recruit Lucier-South but it always requires a team effort. Lucier-South told the South Bend Tribune:
“They’re doing a good job. They’re honest. They always tell me academics first and then football and I really like that. They don’t want to talk about football the whole time. They want to talk about life. I have a great relationship with them.”
Notre Dame probably hold a Top 3 slot along with UCLA and Michigan. The Irish landed an official visit early. This speaks to his level of interest in Notre Dame. The Irish coaching staff must battle until February to land such a high profile and elite recruit.
Lucier-South hails from Orange, California and plays for Lutheran High School. He checks in at 6’5″ 225. Lucier-South holds 24 offers including Alabama, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, Texas, UCLA, USC.
