Blake Barnett committed to Notre Dame following an unofficial visit to the BYU game last year. Barnett has been one of Notre Dame’s recruiters since committing to the Fighting Irish. He planned on enrolling early at Notre Dame but those plans may have changed.
Barnett unofficially visited Oregon on Tuesday. The visit comes as a surprise because Barnett seemed firm even though he was being pursued by some of the top programs in the country.
247Sports recruiting expert Justin Hopkins wrote of Barnett’s visit:
This visit to Oregon wasn’t an overnight decision. There was a lot of thought regarding this decision. The family spent countless hours discussing the potential visit and the impact.
Notre Dame could pass on taking a Quarterback this season. However, Brian Kelly has stated that he wants to take a Quarterback every year. So far, Kelly has fulfilled that promise. The only risk is missing on such a talented prospect like Blake Barnett.
Barnett is an Elite 11 finalist for the Class of 2015. He has been invited to Nike’s “The Opening”. During his Junior season, he threw for 2322 yards and rushed for 695 yards with 35 touchdowns. Barnett is a consensus 4-star player – typically in the top 100 of most rankings.
