It took Brian Kelly 24 hours to move on from the de-commit of Blake Barnett. The Irish immediately offered Servite HS Quarterback Travis Waller.
Waller hails from the same high school as former Notre Dame Outside Linebacker and Tight End Troy Niklas. He checks in at 6-3 190. Last year, Waller threw for 1669 yard while rushing for 1293 yards. He racked up 25 total touchdowns. Waller did, however, have a 12-7 touchdown to interception ratio.
Waller holds offers from Alabama, Arizona, BYU, California, Colorado, Fresno State, Maryland, Northwestern, Ole Miss, Penn State, Tennessee, Utah, Vanderbilt and Washington. Waller is considered a 4-star prospect by 247, Rivals, ESPN and Scout.
Scout evaluated Waller:
Waller can beat you with his arm or his legs and is just scratching the surface of how good he’ll be down the road. He has a lot of physical tools including a live, accurate arm, accuracy on the deep ball and the mobility to extend plays or run for first down yardage. He’s also very calm in the pocket, never looks rattled and shows great poise for a young quarterback. He has good size and will have no problem filling out down the road-Biggins
The 247Sports Crystal Ball tipped in Notre Dame’s favor following the visit. 62% of experts now predict that Waller will select Notre Dame over Oregon, Ohio State and Arizona. The odds are probably better than 62%. If Oregon receives a commitment from Blake Barnett, Oregon would not likely take Waller in their 2015 class.
Waller will likely visit South Bend this summer.
