Notre Dame added depth to the defensive front on Sunday. Indianapolis Defensive Tackle Brandon Tiassum committed to Notre Dame following a visit to South Bend.
Irish Illustrated spoke with Tiassum following his commitment to Notre Dame. He said, “It’s just the opportunity playing at Notre Dame is. Not just on the field but academically it’s one of the most prestigious universities in the country for both football and academics. You just can’t pass that up.”
Tiassum plays for Park Tudor School in Indianapolis, Indiana. He checks in at a hefty 6’4″ 296. At this size, Tiassum could play at 1 or 3 technique depending on how much weight he gains.
Tiassum told Irish Illustrated, “Switching from a 3-4 to a 4-3 they need more bigger, athletic guys that can move. I can lead with my quickness off the ball. It just fits me perfectly as a three-technique in their system.”
‘During his Junior season, Tiassum collected 83 tackles and 12 sacks.
Rivals ranks Tiassum as a 3-star player and the 24th best Defensive Tackle in the 2015 class. Tiassum holds mid-level offers including Boston College, Cincinnati, Indiana, Louisville, Miami (FL), Toledo, W. Kentucky and W. Michigan.
Tiassum’s commitment represents the 9th commitment for the Fighting Irish.
