Notre Dame Football Recruiting
Brian Kelly likes to take a Quarterback in every year. So, Notre Dame will still likely take a Quarterback despite the Irish having solid depth at the Quarterback position through 2015. Everett Golson, Malik Zaire and DeShone Kizer will be on scholarship until 2015.
Following the de-commitment of Blake Barnett, the Fighting Irish immediately offered Servite High School (Anaheim, California) Quarterback Travis Waller. Within the week, the Irish also offered Stidham and Francois. These Quarterbacks may not have the upside of Barnett. However, these are not lower level Quarterbacks. These players have an opportunity to start and win a lot of games for the Fighting Irish in the future.
Stidham is considered the top dual threat Quarterback in the country. He is currently committed to the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Playing for Stephenville High School in 2013, Stidham threw for 2687 yards with 30 touchdowns and 5 interception. Additionally, he rushed for 975 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Francois plays for IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Rivals considers him as the 8th best dual-threat Quarterback in the country. He probably has one of the best arms in the country. Francois holds offers Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Miami (Fl), Ohio State, Oregon and Tennessee among others. Francois was selected as an Elite 11 Quarterback.
The Fighting Irish are in the beginning stages of recruiting each of these three players. Stidham probably is unlikely to flip his commitment at this point. Travis Waller and Deondre Francois are probably more likely to jump at the the opportunity to join Notre Dame. The Irish coaching staff has recruited both high schools, Servite and IMG Academy, recently. In 2011, the Fighting Irish landed Troy Niklas out of Servite High School.
