On Monday night, Pulaski County Cornerback Cameron Ordway trimmed his list to ten schools. He included Notre Dame along with Florida State, Ole Miss, LSU, Tennessee, Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan.
Ordway is ranked as the 31st best Cornerback by 247Sports. Scout and Rivals rate him as a 4-star recruit. 247Sports and ESPN have Ordway as a 3-star prospect. He holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, California, Cincinnati, Clemson, Florida State, Kentucky, LSU, Memphis, Michigan, Middle Tennessee State, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Penn State, Purdue, Tennessee and Vanderbilt. His offer list would suggest that he is a 4-star recruit rather than a 3-star recruit.
In 2013, Ordway collected 75 tackles and 9 interceptions.
Notre Dame could be in a pinch at Cornerback in 2015. If KeiVarae Russell departs for the NFL, the Irish will be left with only three natural Cornerbacks, Cole Luke, Devin Butler and Nick Watkins. Matthias Farley could return for a 5th year but it is unclear whether or not he can provide quality depth. In Brian VanGorder’s scheme, Notre Dame wants to use as many as 4 cornerbacks at a time. Notre Dame needs to add at least two in this class to maintain quality depth. This could be why Notre Dame offered 25 Cornerbacks in this class.
