The Fighting Irish received their third commitment in as many days from Cincinnati, Ohio Defensive Tackle Elijah Taylor. Taylor selected the Irish over the Ohio State Buckeyes. Notre Dame now has verbal commitments from three Defensive Tackles: Elijah Taylor, Micah Dew-Treadway and Brandon Tiassum.
Elijah Taylor hails from Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Taylor checks in at 6’4″, 285 lbs. He holds offers from Cincinnati, Duke, Florida State, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Miami (FL), Michigan State, Ohio, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, West Virginia, Western Kentucky and Wisconsin.
Taylor is ranked near Notre Dame commitment Brandon Tiassum. Rivals has Tiassum ranked as the 24th best Defensive Tackle while Taylor is ranked 31st. However, 247Sports ranks Taylor as the 19th best Defensive Tackle and Tiassum as the 21st best. However, Taylor’s offer list features many more elite schools than Tiassum. Additionally, Scout ranks Taylor as a 4-star player.
Notre Dame now has 12 verbal commitments in the 2015 recruiting class with commitment of Elijah Taylor. Notre Dame does not have many scholarships left. However, in reality, it is unclear how many the Fighting Irish have. Most likely, 3 to 8 scholarships remain depending on who returns for a 5th year and who declares for the NFL Draft.
