Notre Dame Basketball: Home Attendance Up At Men's Basketball Games

The 2013-2014 Men’s Basketball season was a forgettable one as the Fighting Irish went 15-17.

However, attendance at games was up this season. During the 2012-2013 season, an average of 8,242 fans cheered on the Fighting Irish at the Purcell Pavilion. This total ranked Notre Dame 54th in country in attendance. This past season, an average of 8,366 fans attended Notre Dame basketball games. The Irish fell to 55th this year.

Purcell Pavilion holds a capacity of 9,149 fans. Therefore, this season Purcell Pavilion was at an average of 91.44%.

How did Notre Dame raise its attendance in a season when they performed so poorly? That answer is easy. Big names like Duke and North Carolina help sell out Purcell Pavilion. Additionally, newcomers North Carolina State, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Boston College, Clemson and Georgia Tech helped boost attendance numbers.
