Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Decision Looms For St. Xavier High School’s Justin Hilliard

Notre Dame Football Recruiting – Justin Hillard

Brian Kelly personally escorted St. Xavier High School’s Justin Hilliard into Notre Dame’s elite prospect camp, the “Irish Invasion”. Hilliard’s visit on Friday and Saturday was the last before he will make his college decision. Additionally, he visited Ohio State over the weekend.

Presumably, Hilliard will be selecting between his Top 5 schools, Alabama, Iowa, Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State. However, Notre Dame and Ohio State appear to be the schools that Hilliard is deciding between. Hilliard has visited Notre Dame and Ohio State at least three times each in 2014.

The Cincinnati, Ohio product is the one of the top players in the country and the best Outside Linebacker on Notre Dame’s board. 247Sports, ESPN, Scout and Rivals rank Hilliard 13th, 13th, 58th and 49th.

Most recruiting experts believe that Hilliard will select Ohio State. The Buckeyes have a lot going for them. They are in-state power. Head Coach Urban Meyer is one of the best in the business. However, Notre Dame has a lot going for them too. St. Xavier is a pipeline for Notre Dame, athletically and academically. Hilliard would probably be very comfortable selecting Notre Dame.

The Fighting Irish already have 13 commitments in the 2015 class including Linebacker Josh Barajas from Merrillville, Indiana. A commitment from Hilliard would make Notre Dame’s Linebacker corps complete. Notre Dame is currently also pursuing Indianapolis, Indiana Linebacker Asmar Bilal and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida Linebacker Tevon Coney.

Hilliard will make his college decision known on July 2nd at St. Xavier High School. The time has not been announced yet.
