This year, Notre Dame’s Football team will be one of the youngest that Brian Kelly has ever had at Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are making slight adjustments on Offense and Defense. The Defense will likely operate with three Cornerbacks most of the time. Here are Notre Dame’s players ranked 1-22, continuing with #20:

20. Cole Luke – Sophomore – Cornerback

Despite not starting a game for Notre Dame, Luke anchored the “nickelback” position for the Fighting Irish his Senior year. Luke tallied 15 tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss and 2 passes broken up. Now, Luke will be depended on as the 2nd Cornerback behind KeiVarae Russell. (There is a chance that 5th-year player and former Florida player Cody Riggs could jump him for the spot.)

Luke showed flashes during the spring of how he could be a lock down Cornerback. During the Spring game, the Chandler, Arizona product batted away a deep ball from Wide Receiver Torii Hunter Jr. Luke better be prepared to man up on Wide Receivers in Brian VanGorder’s defensive scheme. Without Notre Dame’s Cornerbacks being able to play man-to-man, Notre Dame will be limited in their blitz packages.

Next: #19 Joe Schmidt – Senior – Linebacker

Previous #21 Max Redfield – Sophomore – Safety, #22 Mike McGlinchey – Sophomore – Offensive Tackle
