This year, Notre Dame’s Football team will be one of the youngest that Brian Kelly has ever had at Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are making slight adjustments on Offense and Defense. The Defense will likely operate with three Cornerbacks most of the time. Here are Notre Dame’s players ranked 1-22, continuing with #14:
Steve Elmer — Sophomore — Offensive Line
Elmer made 10 appearances and 4 starts in his Freshman season at Notre Dame. The former 4-star recruit figures to one of Notre Dame’s starters along the Offensive Line. However, it is not known whether it will be at Left Guard or Right Tackle.
His position will depend less on what Elmer does in fall camp and what other players do. Will Mike McGlinchey be settled at Right Tackle? If yes, then Elmer will play at the Guard position. If no, then Elmer could move into that position.
Longterm, the Irish coaching staff will want to move Elmer to a Tackle position. Elmer is a natural Tackle. Many schools recruited him as a Tackle.
Regardless of position, Elmer proved himself to be an competent player in 2013. After another year with Strength Coach Paul Longo and Offensive Line Coach Harry Heistand will only help Elmer become an even better player in 2014.
