The Aberdeen Ironbirds are the short season Class-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. This is who Pat Connaughton spent his summer with. In six games, Connaughton collected a 0-1 record with a 2.45 ERA in 14.2 innings. He struck out 10 players over those innings. His best appearance was his last with the Ironbirds. He pitched 4.2 innings while giving up no runs and 1 hits.
Connaughton is due back on campus Wednesday as #Irish hoops begin preparations for next week’s foreign tour of Italy.

Connaughton is set to return to a Notre Dame team that went 15-17 (6-12 ACC) last season. Connaughton averaged 13.8 points per game, 7.1 rebounds per game and 3.0 assists per game during the 2013-2014 season. Connaughton will likely captain the 2014-2015 Notre Dame Basketball team.
Also returning to Notre Dame’s basketball program is Jerian Grant who was suspended for the second half of last season. While he was with the Irish, Grant scored 19.0 points per game, 2.5 rebounds per game and 6.2 assists per game. Grant’s field goal percentage was .518%. That was perhaps his most impressive statistic because it was higher than Notre Dame’s big men including starters Garrick Sherman and Zach Auguste.
These two players will help Notre Dame compete for a spot in the NCAA Tournament. With Grant, Notre Dame was 8-4. Without him, they were 7-13.
