Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Tevon Coney Closing In On Decision

Tevon Coney tops Notre Dame’s board as one of their top Linebacker recruits. He is closing in on a final decision. Will he choose the Irish or Gators?

Coney hails from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He measures at a solid 6’1″ 222 lbs. During his Junior season, he collected 172 tackles, 14 sacks, 2 interceptions, 6 forced fumbles and 2 fumble recoveries. 247Sports rates him as a 4-star recruit and the 11th best Linebacker in the country.

Coney visited Notre Dame for the “Irish Invasion” camp on June 20th. Following that visit, Coney listed Florida and Notre Dame as co-leader. Although he visited Auburn and Tennessee since that statement, many believe that the decision comes down to the Gators and Irish. Coney will commit in September. He visits Notre Dame on September 6th. This could coincide with a commitment to Notre Dame. However, that is pure speculation.

Notre Dame only holds one Linebacker commitment from Andrean High School Linebacker Josh Barajas. The Irish need one or two more to round out the class. Coney represents Notre Dame’s best chance at a commitment at that position.

Although he choose not to announce his commitment date, the selection logically would occur after his September 6th visit to Notre Dame. Coney needs one more look at the Irish before choosing between the two schools.
