Notre Dame Football: Counting Down Notre Dame’s Starters: #9 Ronnie Stanley

This year, Notre Dame’s Football team will be one of the youngest that Brian Kelly has ever had at Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish are making slight adjustments on Offense and Defense. The Defense will likely operate with three Cornerbacks most of the time. Here are Notre Dame’s players ranked 1-22, continuing with #9:

Ronnie Stanley – Junior – Tackle

In his short time at Notre Dame, Ronnie Stanley has become one of the shining stars on a team full of young talent. During his freshman year Stanley only saw time as a reserve during the Navy and Michigan games. Sophomore year saw Ronnie move to the starting Right Tackle position and holding it for all 13 games.

This year Ronnie will be making another switch along the line moving to the starting Left Tackle position. Ronnie put in all the hard work during the off season and spring to earn the trust of O-Line coach Harry Hiestand. The 6’5”, 315lbs Stanley has far exceeded his development expectations coming out of high school as only a four star prospect.

Whoever runs out of the tunnel against Rice as the starting quarterback should feel confident that their back side is protected. Number 13 in our countdown, Steve Elmer, will likely join Stanley on the left side forming what could be the best blind side protection a quarterback could ask for.
