DaVaris Daniels’ father, Phillip Daniels, defended his son on NBC Chicago yesterday. His defense of the Senior Wide Receiver provided (if accurate) some information about Notre Dame’s on-going investigation. Here are some tweets from David Haugh and Pete Byrne:
Phillip Daniels defends son on @nbcchicago: “I think Notre Dame has handled this really bad. DaVaris knows he didn’t do anything wrong.”

It’s Sunday night. Suspension of DaVaris Daniels, 3 others, was Friday. University still hasn’t spoken to his dad …How is that possible? — David Haugh (@DavidHaugh) August 18, 2014
Simply, in a situation similar to this, Notre Dame would not contact Phillip Daniels. That is how that is possible.
Phillip Daniels told WMAQ in Chicago his son Davaris had Russell’s girlfriend proofread papers but strongly denied any cheating.

The Notre Dame Honor Code does not specifically address proofreading. It is likely that Notre Dame does not discourage something like this. So, whatever Notre Dame is up in arms about, it probably is not proofreading. But, this is completely speculation. Maybe Daniels and the three others will cleared.
