How to Watch: Notre Dame vs. UMass

In a season that would make most teams fold due to injuries, Notre Dame is proving to us just how talented this roster is. By no means do you relax and take an opponent easy, but one week after playing a gritty triple option team in Georgia Tech, the Irish should be in for a comfortable victory.

UMass is coming into this game 0-2 after falling to Colorado in the season opener 48-14 and Temple 25-23 last week. This team could easily be 1-1 as they had Temple beat, but with 20 seconds left, Temple blocked a UMass extra point and returned it for two points. This could either wreak or motivate the Minutemen while coming into a game where they are massive underdogs.

Of course the Irish will have to continue to battle through injuries but this game could give them an opportunity to work on some kinks of the inexperienced players. Don’t be surprised if we see the debut of Brandon Wimbush. Not that DeShone Kizer will not play well, in fact this scenario more than likely happens because of Kizer playing very well, but Wimbush is a guy that we’re all waiting to see what true talent he possesses. The key for Kizer and the Irish will be to limit turnovers. If they limit secure the ball and play their game, the Irish will coast to a safe victory.

From Staff Writer’s Pat Sullivan’s prediction

"The Notre Dame Fighting Irish, hot off a substantial and mostly-convincing victory over Georgia Tech last Saturday, will play host to the Minutemen of Massachusetts tomorrow afternoon. UMass comes into the game 0-2, with a blowout loss at the hands of Colorado and a very close loss to Temple under their belts. Notre Dame enters the game 3-0 and ranked 6th in the AP Poll after they held off a late Georgia Tech rally to win 30-22 last week."
