Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Awaiting Demetris Robertson Decision

Can Notre Dame sign Demetris Robertson, the electric five star athlete from Georgia?

With less than two weeks to go until National Signing Day on Wednesday February 3, we take a look at the prospects left on Notre Dame’s recruiting board and which prospects might be on their way to Notre Dame.

Demetris Robertson

After a fairly quiet but solid recruiting cycle thus far for Notre Dame, the heat is on as they press for several five star prospects and high four star players. Demetris Roberson is one of those five star prospects and Notre Dame is strongly in the mix along with Alabama and Georgia.

Robertson, like most elite prospects right now, is having a busy January and has a full schedule of visitors and visits to make. While he has made no public leader, the consensus is that Notre Dame leads with Georgia and Alabama hot on the trail along with schools like Cal and Georgia Tech making that late push.

Hotness

The big buzz surrounding Robertson is the unknown. Despite trends stating that Demetris Robertson will sign with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on National Signing Day, the battle is far from over. New Georgia head coach Kirby Smart is making Robertson priority number one, and Alabama head coach Nick Saban is well… Nick Saban and Nick Saban tends to get the things he wants like spoiled rich kids on Christmas morning.

There is another school that Robertson has coveted and has made known that they are a serious player and that school is Stanford. The word is that Robertson still lacks the necessary test scores to get admitted to Stanford and that he may try again- and if that happens, perhaps all bets are off.

Best Guess

Although Notre Dame seems to be the leader at the moment, it’s hard to imagine them winning Robertson’s signature with the home state Bulldogs and Yellow Jackets in his ear consistently as well as the defending national champions. Add in that Stanford news (although that may be a stretch) and it appears like Demetris Robertson is looking to commit somewhere other than Notre Dame. After it’s all said and done (and signed) I expect Robertson to sign with Georgia or Alabama. There are too many forces at work against the Irish in my opinion.
