We have three questions about every player on the Notre Dame football roster this spring.

There will be about 65 guys on scholarship for spring football this year. We are going to take a look at each one (alphabetically for dewey decimal fans), and ask a few questions. What those questions will be, are probably more important than the answers actually given before September- if any are given at all.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish. JOSH ADAMS. SO. As a freshman, Josh Adams saw action in all 13 games with three of those as starts. He gained 835 yards on the ground with a 7.1 YPC average and scored 6 touchdowns. Adams also gained 42 yards through the “air” and scored another touchdown.. RB

1. How will Josh Adams co-exist with returning starter Tarean Folston back in the mix?

I don’t have a camcorder inside the Gug, but chances are pretty good that Brian Kelly and Mike Sanford already have a plan in place to get the most out of both Folston and Adams next season. Naturally, with Prosise’s departure, Adam’s success as a freshman, and the severity of Folston’s injury; Adams is probably in full competition mode right now to become the starter. As long as the carries are divided in somewhat even fashion, I don’t forsee much of an issue.

2. Will Josh Adams become a better short yardage runner for Notre Dame?

If all things are equal (with the number of carries) the carries left on the table to be had, are those goaline and short yardage attempts. Adams is an explosive runner that can take it to the house, but will he develop a better skill to get those tough yards? This is vital to the success of Notre Dame’s offense and the team in 2016. Notre Dame needs someone to step up and be that guy- can / will it be Josh Adams?

3. Can Josh Adams develop into an even more explosive back in 2016?

So speaking of explosiveness, nothing is seemingly more explosive than a 98 yard touchdown run- except for maybe a 62 yard touchdown run like this:

In 2015, Notre Dame saw some of the most explosive runs in the program’s history. CJ Prosise and Josh Adams were a formidable duo when it came to “taking it to the house.” With Prosise gone, and no other back on the roster quite on that level, can Josh Adams make up for Prosise’s departure? That would mean Adams would need about 6-8 TD runs of 50 yards or more next season. Can he do it?
