Former Notre Dame wide receiver, Corey Holmes, will transfer from the University.

The senior from Pemproke Pines, Florida told CBS Sports he will transfer from Notre Dame after his graduation in the spring.

After one full season of action for the Fighting Irish, Holmes recorded only 11 receptions for 96 yards. Holmes’ choices for next season include Miami, UCLA, Arizona State, Arizona, and North Carolina, but says other schools will be considered if they present themselves.

Notre Dame is taking a severe blow offensively losing former quarterback Malik Zaire and now Holmes. After a 4-8 season and questions surrounding the Irish’s coaching situation next season, it’s no surprise Notre Dame continues to lose players.

One of Holmes’ top choices, Miami, may be the biggest beneficiary of receiving the speedy receiver. After losing senior, Stacy Coley, the Hurricanes could use another future star to compliment Ahmmon Richards.

If Holmes is searching for a school with a high ceiling next season, he may be looking at North Carolina as his first option. The Tar Heels may be receiving another Notre Dame player in Malik Zaire.

Zaire and Holmes have already developed chemistry during their time at Notre Dame. This combination may be something special if they both end up at UNC. It’ll also be interesting to watch them play Notre Dame during the 2017 season. The Tar Heels and Irish are schedule to face off on October 7,2017.

No matter where Holmes ends up next season, Notre Dame will lose a significant part of their offense. Next year, the Irish’s receiving core has all the potential to be one of the best. It’s understandable that Holmes decided to take his talent somewhere else considering the amount of quality receivers in South Bend. Either way, the Irish pass catchers took a major blow.

As Notre Dame continues to take hits, Holmes will be looking to make his name known in another jersey. “It’s just the best decision for me,” Holmes told CBS. “I’m just going to find the best fit for me to finish things up.”
