It’s been quite a week for the Notre Dame recruiting department.

The Irish received commitments from defensive backs Kalon Gervin and Derrick Allen, wide receiver Micah Jones as well as offensive tackle Cole Mabry this week, bringing their recruiting class to 10 in total.

Brian Kelly and Co. haven’t taken their foot off the gas. In the last few days, Notre Dame has offered 6 more recruits.

I think I know why the Irish staff is offering this many recruits so early in the process.

In the last month before the Feb. 1st National Signing Day, the Irish found themselves scrambling to fill out their class. They sent out a flurry of offers in the month of January in order to reel in the final pieces.

It wasn’t a good situation to be in nor was it the ideal way to go about recruiting. Getting in on recruits that late is difficult in terms of building relationships, hosting them for visits or in some cases – flipping them from a school that they have been in contact with for months.

This class looks to be headed in a direction where they won’t be scrambling next January. They will likely be comfortably waiting for National Signing Day while confidently wrapping up their final few commitments from recruits they know well.

Let’s have a look at who Notre Dame offered this week.
