The Notre Dame 2018 recruiting class continues to receive good news.

There has been a fair amount of buzz about a pair of 4 star offensive lineman being interested in Notre Dame.

On Jan. 31, the day before National Signing Day, offensive tackles Ryan Hayes and John Dirksen were offered scholarships to Notre Dame. At the time, both Hayes and Dirksen were considered Michigan State leans.

That has changed.

John Dirksen now has 5 – 247Sports Crystal Balls in favor of Notre Dame out of 6 total. Michigan State insider Sean Scherer was the only analysts who gave the nod to Michigan State.

John Dirksen is a stout offensive lineman that would be a very welcome addition to the Irish front. Harry Heistand is fairly careful with who he offers.

That being said, he must be very confident in Dirksen who would likely be ranked even higher if he hadn’t missed much of last season with an injury.

4 star offensive tackle Ryan Hayes, who plays mainly tight end at Traverse City West, is also high on the Irish. Hayes is a 6’7, 252 pound, super athletic player who projects very nicely as a tackle at the college level.

Hayes has 5 – 247 Crystal Ball prediction as of now. 4 of them are for Notre Dame. Sean Scherer also put in a Crystal Ball prediction for Hayes, although, this time it was for Notre Dame.

Hayes is ranked as the #89 overall and #9 offensive tackle in the nation as well as #1 recruit in the state of Michigan by 247Sports rankings.

With Tennessee OT Cole Mabry in the fold, I expect Notre Dame to look to add 3 or 4 more offensive lineman. I like their chances with these two. Expect both lineman to visit campus in the future and for Harry Heistand to continue building relationships with them.

Stealing talented offensive lineman out of Ohio and Michigan’s back yard always makes ND Nation feel pretty good.
