Must Read: Who Did and Didn't Show Up Against Princeton

In a game featuring two very evenly matched teams, the luck of March may be the deciding factor for Notre Dame basketball and West Virginia. As both teams look to carry their first round momentum into this matchup, we enjoy one of the better games of the NCAA Tournament.

With both teams being some of the best offensive units in college basketball, expect this one to come down to a shot or two late in the second half. If Notre Dame can find hot hands from more than two or three players, they could be in for a 90-plus point night. Against West Virginia, they may need to push 100 to pull off the win.

The biggest matchup in this one in Bonzie Colson vs the Mountaineers post game. Starting with Nathan Adrian, West Virginia’s frontcourt doesn’t work through one player, but as a collective effort. The Mountaineers average 37.4 rebounds per contest through multiple players on the team collecting boards.

In the backcourt, it’ll be the point guards battling it out for the upper hand on the perimeter. Matt Farrell and Steve Vasturia have more experience than most players this March. Being a part of two Elite Eight runs over the last two seasons, these two know what it’s like to win in the NCAA Tournament.

For West Virginia, Jevon Carter will be the one leading the way. The junior guard leads the team with 13 points per game and five rebounds. In this one, Carter will square off with Farrell in a matchup that could very easily decide the outcome of the game.

This game is too close to call. Notre Dame’s veterans could make the difference, but when you play a team so close in talent, it’s hard to say anything is guaranteed. The winner of this one could just win out of luck, but either way, it should be a close game.
