Quinn Carroll has football in his blood.

Quinn Carroll makes too much sense for Notre Dame. He’s a 6’6, 290-pound physical offensive lineman, a strong student, has 20 offers as a sophomore, is used to cold weather, has NFL bloodlines, red hair and a very Irish name.

Notre Dame has to sign him up.

I reached out to Carroll on Saturday to talk recruiting. He started by telling me about his family ties to the gridiron.

“I have four older brothers and they all played football so I’ve been involved since day one,” said Carroll. He then spoke about his father, Jay Carroll. “Him being an NFL alumn, has a very strong input on how I should handle recruiting and obviously his coaching has led me to the success I’ve been blessed with,” he added.

Quinn spoke about how he ended up on the offensive line. “I’ve always been the biggest kid in my class and offensive line was kind of my place on the field,” mentioned Carroll.

Considering Carroll plays right tackle for his current program but will likely be asked to play left tackle at the college level due to his size, length and athleticism, I asked him why he plays on the right and which position he thinks he will play at the next level.

“I’m not sure if I will play left tackle in the future. Most of our run plays are to the right so I believe it’s because of my physicality on that side,” he answered. “Most of the coaches I’ve talked to have almost guaranteed me as a tackle.”

Quinn Carroll will be visiting Notre Dame next weekend for Sophomore Day. I asked him about his contact with the staff and what his thoughts were on the Irish.

“It’s definitely a blessing. I have been in contact with coach Kearney and others and I am very excited to be recruited by Notre Dame,” said Carroll. “They have always been a national powerhouse with amazing academics and that intrigues me.”

“I’m very excited to see the campus and meet the coaches. I just want to gather as much information as I can so that if I end up there someday, I can make an informed decision,” Carroll stated.

Next, I asked Carroll if any schools were sticking out to him at this time.

“No schools as of right now. I’m sure I’ll start to narrow it down after these visits come up,” Carroll answered.

"To finish the conversation, I asked Carroll if he could see himself ending up at Notre Dame. “I’m not sure what the future holds but I can guarantee they will be strongly considered,” he stated."

I broke down Carroll’s film and recruiting situation when I added him to my recent Sinclair’s Hot 5 Big Board which you can read by clicking HERE.

This weekend has been a huge weekend for visits and next weekend may be just as big by the time it rolls around. Many top 2019 recruits will be there. The Notre Dame staff will surely want to start building relationships with them and give them a solid idea of what being a Notre Dame student-athlete is all about.

I’m certain that Harry Heistand will be spending as much time as possible with Quinn Carroll. Like I said, he makes too much sense.
