Steve Vasturia isn’t a likely NBA Draft pick, but if any NBA team should give him a chance, it should be the Cleveland Cavaliers.

LeBron James, the point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward, and center, all mixed into one seems to thrive off of one type of player – a shooter.

As a player who can single-handly dominate both sides of the ball, LeBron doesn’t need the lockdown defender on his team. Does he like to have one or two? Yes, but looking back at his NBA Finals teams, most of them were a group of skilled scorers.

Steve Vasturia proved during his four years at Notre Dame that he could play both sides of the ball. Not only was he one of the best offensive players the Fighting Irish had for four seasons, but he was always one of the most reliable defenders.

The only thing keeping him out of the NBA is his athleticism. For someone who’s so skilled at the game of basketball, Vasturia is nowhere near where most NBA players are athletically. But much like some of the great players to lineup alongside LeBron James, Vasturia contains an offensive ability that is perfect to play with the best player of the 21st century.

Vasturia is a reserve player to come in and bank a few threes. I know that’s not a lot for someone who dominated college basketball for four years, but to continue playing, I’m sure the former Notre Dame star would be okay.

This would also help LeBron. For some reason, he loves to have players who can shoot on the floor. When players like JR Smith, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love are hitting threes, LeBron seems to get an extra burst of energy. As someone who’s never been the top shooter in the league, James loves to have players around him to handle the outside shooting.
Cleveland should be thinking of Vasturia after the draft. He’s not going to hear his name called during the two rounds but should get a shot in Summer League.

When teams are looking for roster fillers, Vasturia will be a name that comes up quite a bit. The Cavaliers’ system is perfect for him. As they look to build a summer league team, he’s going to be considered.

Hopefully, they see the fit like we do. If so, Vasturia can be a great off the bench addition to LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
