As CJ Carr heads into his second season as the starting quarterback for the Notre Dame football team, he comes into spring practice having studied a number of different NFL quarterbacks in order to try and hone his approach. During a press conference on Wednesday, Carr said that one quarterback who caught his eye this offseason was the Los Angeles Rams' Matthew Stafford.
According to Pete Sampson, Carr told the assembled media that Stafford was suggested to him as someone to study this offseason. The Irish quarterback ended up liking what he saw. He liked what he saw not only from Stafford, but from the Rams' offensive attack in general.
The Notre Dame quarterback said he wants offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock to work at least a little bit of the Los Angeles attack into the Irish offense. He especially likes the idea of working from under center every now and then.
CJ Carr spent this offseason studying Matthew Stafford and the Rams offense. Wants to work some of those throws into the Notre Dame offense and get under center more.

“The things they’re doing schematically and the throws that (Stafford) makes … let’s go out there and try it.”
CJ Carr studied Matthew Stafford and wants parts of the Rams offense at Notre Dame
"The things they’re doing schematically and the throws that (Stafford) makes," Carr said. "Let’s go out there and try it."
How likely it is that Notre Dame adapts some of the Rams' offense into its own attack is currently unknown. Denbrock clearly likes his quarterbacks to be lined up further back in order to better see how the defense has aligned.
That Carr is watching and learning and showing interest in getting better any way he can is a good sign. The Fighting Irish will be better for him showing that kind of interest in learning things and adapting his game.
The Notre Dame football team is expecting big things from CJ Carr. It will only help him accomplish his and the team's goals if he's modeling his game after such an accomplished NFL quarterback who still goes under the radar at times.
