Seems to me that he is slowly getting more attention from McNabb and the Vikings coaching staff. Hopefully he’ll be just as valuable to them as he was to us!

ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit discusses his thoughts on Notre Dame this year. He isn’t as optimistic as most people are.

He think Notre Dame’s schedule is too tough for a 10-2 season. He believes they should settle for a 8-4 record. When you look at Notre Dame’s schedule, we do face very good teams. Michigan; at Michigan, #17 Michigan State, #7 Stanford, and USC just to name a few. Its not possible to have a few stumbles here and there.

But, we still need to believe. Brian Kelly has been through tough schedules and knows what he’s doing. Let’s see him live up to expectations. Something a Irish Coach hasn’t done in a few years.

Is this year a bust? Or will Notre Dame live up to there expectations and make a BCS game? Answer in our new poll!

Notre Dame has a bright future ahead of them, here’s three reasons why you should be excited as well.

1. Were ranked 16th in the AP Poll.

Not since 2009 have the Fighting Irish been ranked this high in the AP Poll. Placed this higher than Michigan State (17th) who beat us last year. People can say what they want, but when you are ranked 16th you have a target on their backs. Teams really want to beat us now. Who wouldn’t want that situation (being that good you need a target on your backs)?

2. Brian Kelly is coaching.

Like we saw at the end of last year, our defense is going to be better. No more Charlie Weis defense, this is Brian Kelly’s defense. He has a strong resume of having succesful 2nd years as a head coach. Why is he so good his second year? It is because of his defense. Look for our defense to be one of the better one’s in the country this year.

3. How we finished last year.

When you finish 4-0 beating a very good Utah and Miami, how can you not be excited for the next year? Sure, it took some time for Brian Kelly to have his team knoiwing his system (4-5 start), but once they got it, they were and are full steam ahead.

I hope you all are as excited as I am for this year! Leave a comment and let me know what you think will happen this year!
