The Minutemen will be adding a player who has not see much of the field in his time at South Bend. Walker has made 7 game appearances since 2009, and he didn’t see any time last year. According to ESPN’s game log, Walker has only made 1 catch his entire career.

“We are very excited about having Deion join us for the upcoming season,” said Minutemen head coach Charley Molnar. “Having worked with Deion at Notre Dame, he is a terrific person and will make the most of this opportunity. Along with Hafis Williams and Michael Cox, Deion will also be able to make an immediate impact on the program — both on and off the field.” -Fox News

The UMass football program will be entering the FBS Mid American Conference next season. In the past, the Minutemen have been playing their football in the FCS (Division 1AA).

Notre Dame spokesman John Heisler told ESPN’s Matt Fortuna that the schools’ will not face each other at Yankee Stadium, if at all, during the 2013 season.

I am a little disappointed in this news. Notre Dame makes one of the most challenging schedules year after year, so playing a somewhat weaker opponent would be nice. It gets kind of annoying going into every game not knowing for sure how the game will turn out. I’m not saying Army is a bad team, I’m just saying they’re not a major conference team. Not to mention that they have been lacking in wins over the recent years.

Will Notre Dame Play Army In The Future?

The odds of these teams seeing each other within the next 5 years is very high. Army’s Athletic Director, Boo Corrigan, graduated from Notre Dame in 1990 and had worked in the Notre Dame Athletic Department for 5 years. So I can definitely see him pushing for a game to happen.

What do you think of this news? Do you want the Fighting Irish to play Army in the near future?

2012 could be a great year for Notre Dame. But due to the difficulty of their schedule, it could also be a season faced with a lot of hardship.

With this extremely tough schedule, Notre Dame is playing some great teams. Here’s the 3 games I am looking forward to the most.

3. vs Nay (in Dublin, Ireland) – Sept. 1, 2012

How many times does a college football game go overseas? Not very often, at all. It’s very fitting that the Fighting Irish are playing in the capital of Ireland. I’m just excited to wake up in the morning to a cup of coffee, some pancakes, and Notre Dame football (since the gametime is 9am ET). This is also a game where Notre Dame can win easily, if they show up and play. Starting the season off 1-0 would be nice, instead of a 23-20 loss to USF like in 2011.

2. at Oklahoma – Oct. 27, 2012

I don’t know what to say. This game gets me fired up on all cylinders. Notre Dame against a Big 12 opponent, potentially the ESPN GameDay crew at the game, top 25 opponent- all are reason to be pumped for this game. This game is one I want Notre Dame to win very badly, mainly because it would show the world that Notre Dame is in fact, back in the college football world.
