Safety Harrison Smith was Minnesota’s 2nd pick in the Draft (29th overall). The Vikings were desperate for a new face in the backfield of their defense, and hopefully they found that guy in Harrison Smith.

Other Notre Dame players who have been selected so far are Darius Fleming and Robert Blanton, both of whom were slected in the 5th round.

As for 9 other potential Draft picks from South Bend, they haven’t been as lucky. Here’s the list of players who haven’t been picked yet and when I believe they will be drafted, if at all.

RB Justice Hayes decommits from Notre Dame and commits to Michigan: What’s with all the decommits? Hayes makes four now. This guy can fly,too. Runs a 4.4 forty and is a top 1oo recruit. Brian Kelly cannot be happy to be losing out on these players.

K David Ruffer named a Groza Award Finalist: I don’t think I’m the only Notre Dame fan who didn’t know what the Groza Award is. Notre Dame hasn’t exactly had any award winning kickers recently. Until Ruffer. He’s made 20 consecutive field goals to start his career, including a Notre Dame-record 15 straight so far this season. Yet, Kelly still decided to throw into the end zone against Tulsa. Baffling.

Also, if you’re interested, take a look at the two-man depth chart on Blue and Gold for Saturday’s game against USC. Ian Williams, who Kelly mentioned as possibly playing, was not listed at nose guard. Duval Kamara was listed as the No. 2 wide receiver.
