April 21st, the day Notre Dame will have its annual spring game, may be the day we see quarterbacks perform in front of Brian Kelly. But the question is, who will be taking the snaps come early September?

Aug. 13, 2011; South Bend, IN, USA; Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback Everett Golson (5) throws during practice at the LaBar Practice Complex.
There are 4 possible options the Notre Dame staff can choose from. Each bring different assets to the table. The person who gets 4th may be just as interesting as who gets 1st. This is an early start, but here’s the depth chart I have so far. Please know that this could change any week and most likely will.

Andrew Hendrix- Andrew is the perfect match for Brian Kelly. He’s big in size and can move around the field. Not only that, he has a decent arm. The only question I have for him is can he lead a team? Only time will tell.

Tommy Rees- Tommy Rees has gone through a lot as a quarterback. He’s had his highs and lows. His experience will be his best trait and if Andrew makes a few crucial errors in a game, expect Tommy to be there waiting for his name to be called.

Everett Golson- Golson is young, but his talent is growing as time goes on. I don’t think this is his year, but he will definitely give Andrew a run for his money next year.

Gunner Kiel- I like this kid a lot, so I expect him to have the best chance to move up around the depth chart. He has a lot of expectations after choosing ND over LSU. I can’t see him being used too much this year, I feel he should learn the ropes of Kelly’s offense and continue to develop his game on the practice field.

This is my first quarterback chart of the season. So it most likely will change. DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE WITH MY DEPTH CHART? WHAT DOES YOUR’S LOOK LIKE? Be sure to let us know in the comments section below!

There was no real change in the quarterback competition. It is really open mostly because Brian Kelly has decided to retrain each QBs fundamentals so that he can see the progression in what he wants.

“Each day we’re staging different tests for the quarterbacks,” Kelly said. “That’s why this is gonna be a long process. We’re not gonna have this thing accomplished because we have not even got to the checks in our offense yet. There are no checks in yet. It’s call it and play.” -ESPN.com

Notre Dame will be without Prince Shemboc due to a turf toe, but he will be only out day-to-day. Ishaq Williams took his spot in first team reps for defense instead.

Also, no decision has been made on the return man for punting, the spot is still open to multiple players.

Notre Dame and Michigan square off in the first ever night game at the Big house tomorrow. ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit breaks down the game for us talking big expectations.

Biggest concern for Notre Dame?

Notre Dame will most certainly have to be on the look out for Denard Robinson, quarterback of the Wolverines. He threw for over 500 yards last year in South Bend. With a new offensive coordinator and coach for Michigan, the spread offense Richardson successfully played will not be in tact for him. He will have to adjust to the pro-style offense Michigan now plays. Look for Notre Dame to step it up against Denard due to players being more used to Brian Kelly’s defense.

Who will have a big game?

It seems Tommy Rees will be the player to watch this week. His ability and leadership will be tested as they take on Michigan at a stadium that sold 50,000 extra tickets more than they usually sell at their packed stadium.

Tommy has the opportunity to post monster like numbers if he uses wide receiver to the best of his abilities. Floyd can make catches you don’t think are possible so expect a big game for him as well. Both will have to succeed in order for Notre Dame to win.

Be sure to follow SlapTheSign on Twitter (@SlapTheSign) for the latest information regarding tomorrow’s game.

Game time: 8:00pm (eastern time)

TV: ESPN
