April 21st, the day Notre Dame will have its annual spring game, may be the day we see quarterbacks perform in front of Brian Kelly. But the question is, who will be taking the snaps come early September?

Aug. 13, 2011; South Bend, IN, USA; Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback Everett Golson (5) throws during practice at the LaBar Practice Complex.
There are 4 possible options the Notre Dame staff can choose from. Each bring different assets to the table. The person who gets 4th may be just as interesting as who gets 1st. This is an early start, but here’s the depth chart I have so far. Please know that this could change any week and most likely will.

Andrew Hendrix- Andrew is the perfect match for Brian Kelly. He’s big in size and can move around the field. Not only that, he has a decent arm. The only question I have for him is can he lead a team? Only time will tell.

Tommy Rees- Tommy Rees has gone through a lot as a quarterback. He’s had his highs and lows. His experience will be his best trait and if Andrew makes a few crucial errors in a game, expect Tommy to be there waiting for his name to be called.

Everett Golson- Golson is young, but his talent is growing as time goes on. I don’t think this is his year, but he will definitely give Andrew a run for his money next year.

Gunner Kiel- I like this kid a lot, so I expect him to have the best chance to move up around the depth chart. He has a lot of expectations after choosing ND over LSU. I can’t see him being used too much this year, I feel he should learn the ropes of Kelly’s offense and continue to develop his game on the practice field.

This is my first quarterback chart of the season. So it most likely will change. DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE WITH MY DEPTH CHART? WHAT DOES YOUR’S LOOK LIKE? Be sure to let us know in the comments section below!

Republic. Gunner Kiel, a freshmen quarterback from ND, is Blair’s nephew. No report has been made on Kiel’s plans to practice or not yet on Wednesday.

Blair, as you may remember, set the record for the longest pass in Notre Dame history with a 96-yarder to Joe Howard against Georgia Tech in 1981. He was also a punter for Notre Dame. averaging 40.67 yards on 260 punts.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Kiel family and their friends as they go through this tough time.

It came down to Arizona and Notre Dame, but with the guidance of his father, Neal decided to play in South Bend next year! Davonte Neal is the #8 overall prospect, as well as the #1 athlete in the ESPN Class of 2012. Neal, a wide receiver, is a five star prospect that should be able to stretch the field next year for the Irish. He should improve Notre Dame’s special teams, especially when it comes to punt returning an area Irish struggled in last year. Davonte Neal should serve as a great asset on the offensive of the ball, allowing veterans like Tyler Eifert and T.J. Jones to get open more often.

Coach Kelly and his staff did a fantastic job of closing up the recruiting class of 2012, with signees such as Neal and Gunner Keil. Now it is time for that talent to translate to wins on the field.
